The beach cleaning map

Nowadays plastic can be found anywhere, from the deepest ocean to the highest mountain. About 250 tons of litter is washed ashore on the west coast of Sweden each year.

To tackle this, we and  coastal municipalities are working together to reduce the amount of marine litter along our shores – and you can be part of the solution!

The Beach Cleaning Map

The Beach Cleaning Map is an interactive tool available to everyone – from municipalities to independent volunteers.

Through GPS points, you can pinpoint areas:

  • that need cleaning

  • with litter pic up needs

  • that need cleaning

  • planned to be cleaned

  • Mark where oil has been found

If if you’ve come across a lot of litter at the beach, or planning to clean a beach, visit the website for the Beach Cleaning Map.
There, you’ll be guided through a simple form where you can choose the appropriate marker depending on what you’ve done – whether it’s a clean-up, an area in need of attention, or litter ready for collection.

Please note: the website is in Swedish but is easily translated with Google Translate.
